MORINE

nevesinje-crvanj012Morine su visoravan u Istočnoj Hercegovini. Većim dijelom Morine pripadaju opštini Nevesinje, dok jedan manji dio pripada opštinama Gacko i Kalinovik. Morine danas popularno nazivaju „Evropski Tibet“.

MORINE

Morine Plateau is a high plain in East Herzegovina. A major part of Morine belongs to the Municipality of Nevesinje, while smaller parts belong to the Municipalities of Gacko and Kalinovik. This plateau is called European Tibet. It is widely famous for its vast pastures and well-known Wedding Cemetery. According to a legend, in the eighteen century guests at a wedding party of the bej Lakisic's family from Mostar died while crossing the plateu and that is how the cemetery was named. Tombstones, which can be seen scattered on both sides of the road, are reminders of the sad event.

Morine is still known as a place of unpredictable temper. Thus, on this plateau snow began to fall on June 9, 2005, as the dead of winter. The temperature dropped below zero and shepherds find themselves in a big trouble. They had to take their flocks to the lower ends.

All of this makes Morine mystical and wonderful place which is worth of visiting.
